Our History
From Concept to Collective Voice
The Dialysis Association of South Africa (DASA) was founded in August 2012 with a clear and urgent mandate: to unify and empower the private dialysis sector.
The Association was established by three pioneering founding members: Noeleen Philipson (from National Renal Care), Esme De Beer (an independent practitioner), and Claire Anderson (from B. Braun Avitum). Their collective experience recognized the critical need for a single, authoritative voice to represent providers and secure the future of quality dialysis care.

Driving Mission and Vision
From its inception, DASA’s work has been driven by a clear Vision: to positively shape healthcare policies through representation and collaboration with national stakeholders. This vision immediately translated into a comprehensive Mission focused on strategic collaboration, legislative advocacy, and promoting global best practices.
Every objective, from seeking direct representation on relevant associations to creating a unified communication channel, was established to ensure the sustainability of the industry and uphold the commitment to quality access to life-saving care for patients across South Africa.
Today, DASA continues to build on the foundation laid in 2012, serving as the essential collective medium for providers and a key partner in the country’s healthcare dialogue.
